WHAT IS PILSNER?
A Pilsner is a pale lager style that originated in the Czech city of Plzeň in the 1800s. Known for its crisp, clean flavour and brilliant, clear, golden colour, a pilsner balances light malt sweetness with gentle hop bitterness for an easy-drinking, refreshing beer.
Unlike heavier ales, pilsners are brewed with bottom-fermenting lager yeast at cooler temperatures, which creates their signature smoothness and clarity. Saaz hops are a must for this style offering a spiciness to the beer resulting in some earthy, floral, crisp flavours. A refreshing pilsner is always a popular choice.
